The series, which fuses somber drama with irreverent comedy, is centered on a diverse group of Army medics deployed in Afghanistan at a location referred to as “The Orphanage.” Together, the medics navigate a dangerous and often absurd environment while depending on their camaraderie, a variety of vices, and occasionally a strong sense of purpose.

Roback and Davis risk their lives searching for medical supplies in case the base is attacked, while Alvarez gets on-the-job training.

As Roback and Davis simultaneously navigate a minefield and a chasm in their friendship, Holloway finds a way to assist Qasem’s community and Colonel Austin catches SecCorp’s eye.
The gang searches for the stolen money, Alvarez and Roback’s marriage is put to the strain, and Holloway’s father dissuades her from joining SecCorp.
Petrocelli insists on traveling into Taliban territory with Roback, Davis, and Alvarez as Colonel Austin prepares for a confrontation with SecCorp.
