According to Variety, Anthony Mackie he will be producer and star of the next Netflix action-adventure film titled The Ogun. The actor, who became famous for his role as Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has recently joined the project of producer Jason Michael Berman, and is currently looking for a direction.
The Ogun tells the story of Xavier Rhodes, a character played by Mackie himself, who must take his teenage daughter to Nigeria to find a cure for the rare genetic disease that he himself transmitted to her. But when his daughter is kidnapped, Rhodes will have to dive into the local criminal underworld to find her before it's too late.
The film was written by former stuntman Madison Turner (whose work also includes a participation in The Dark Knight - The Return by Christopher Nolan), while the production is still looking for a name for directing. Mackie had previously collaborated with Jason Michael Berman on the production of the sci-fi film Me with him in the cast alongside Margaret Qualley and Danny Houston, also distributed by Netflix.
Among the films, however, produced only by Berman and always on behalf of Netflix we can remember The code of silence e The Last Days of American Crime from the graphic novel of the same name.
We will soon see Mackie again in the role of Sam Wilson in the highly anticipated series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, coming to Disney + in early 2021 (likely). In the series we will see the developments of his character once inherited Captain America's shield, as seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame and his collaborative relationship with Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.
Mackie is also in the cast of The Woman in the Window, Joe Wright's film starring Amy Adams postponed to a later date due to COVID-19.
