Technician Roddy Ho and his fiancée will take center stage in Season 5 of Slow Horses. As the city is rocked by a series of strange incidents, the Slow Horses are drawn into the investigation because everyone is wary of the beautiful lady.

River Cartwright, an MI5 agent, gets demoted to the lowly position of Slough House instead of being sacked due to a major error that was made by a colleague but was attributed to him throughout a live training exercise at Stansted Airport.
Jackson Lamb, his boss, has given him the task of monitoring Robert Hobden, a journalist who is linked to far-right MPs Peter Judd and Roger Simmonds.
The task of covertly copying Hobden’s USB flash drive contents at a café has also been delegated to his colleague Sidonie “Sid” Baker. Then, to River’s utter amazement, he is told to bring the vehicle to the service’s grand headquarters in Regent’s Park.
Claiming to have knowledge that an “attack is imminent,” Hobden calls his journalism colleagues many times. When River pays a visit to his grandpa, he learns that Hobden was blacklisted and blamed MI5 for his problems when his name showed up on a leaked British Patriotic Party donation list.
If MI5 are investigating Hobden via Slough House, he tells River, it’s because they’re afraid for their safety and want to maintain plausible deniability.
Standish goes to a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. Sons of Albion, a far-right gang, kidnaps Hassan Ahmed, a student from Pakistan and Britain, and then plans to film their beheading live the next day at dawn. After deciding to leave Slough House to continue her investigation, River takes a stand.
Moe, Larry, Curly, and Zeppo, who abducted Hassan, are holding him captive in the basement of a terrace in London. It turns out that Simmonds is the mastermind behind the abduction.
After River duplicated and sent Hobden’s USB drive to Regent’s Park, she discovered it was empty and used her manipulation skills to get her competitor, James “Spider” Webb, to confirm it.
Standingby starts to relive the events leading up to the death of Charles Partner, a coworker of hers and Lamb’s. No one’s worries were allayed when Slough House’s resident cyber specialist, Roddy Ho, found out he couldn’t access Hobden’s laptop because it was air-gapped.
Deputy-Director General Diana Taverner sees Slough House member Jed Moody and asks him to assist her with certain “off-book” tasks. After a long day on the job, Min Harper and Louisa Guy, two more Slough House residents, get together at a bar to talk about their disappointing professional lives.
Although Hobden is the target of River and Sid’s pursuit, she acknowledges that Lamb actually sent her to River’s squad. As they follow the masked guy inside Hobden’s house, they find out that Hobden destroyed the hard drive using thermite. As Hobden makes his getaway, River and Sid engage the masked assailant, who manages to get away after stabbing Sid in the head.
