is there a glaring error in the official teaser, or was it all expected?

I Marvel Studios released an exciting trailer on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also giving fans a first look at The Eternals, the new film from Academy Award-winning director Chloe Zhao.

Fans obviously went into a frenzy playing the promotional footage, to the point that a sensational error inserted in the editing went unnoticed … or, rather, ‘almost’ unnoticed: as you can see in the post at the bottom of the article, in fact, in one of the first shots showing the Eternals gathered on the screen, along with the cast led by Richard Madden you can also see … a cameraman ?!

As evidenced by the tweet, the cameraman is on the left side of the screen, just behind Kumail Nanjiani’s shoulder: some fans were quick to point out that it could be a mistake, similar to the famous cup of coffee in the last season of Game of Thrones, but on closer inspection that person with a camera could actually be part of the film itself.

Of course it wouldn’t be the first time a major production forgets to ‘cut’ a camera operator from the frame, so it makes sense that fans automatically thought of a mistake, but adding some context to the situation changes things: Kumail Nanjiani in fact plays a character named Kingo, one of the Eternals who loves to live on Earth today. Kingo is a major actor today, having used his eons of martial arts training to become a movie star, and it’s possible he has a TV crew in tow to immortalize his exploits. In fact, a few seconds after this scene, Nanjiani himself can be seen in a desert, and next to him there is a man carrying a video camera. In short, wherever Kingo goes it seems that there is a camera to follow him, so what fans have mistaken for a Marvel Studios mistake could simply be a detail of the film’s story.

Or is it really a glaring oversight! To find out, fans will have to wait for the release of the film, scheduled for November 5, or maybe just wait for the first official trailer of Eterni.
