The American historical fantasy-adventure series Black Sails, which takes place on New Providence Island, was originally meant to be a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 book Treasure Island.
Along with other viewing and video-on-demand websites, YouTube hosted its free online premiere. It debuted on cable TV a week later. In the show, pirates on the loose defy British police’ efforts to kill them.
Starz commissioned the ten-episode subsequent season of the show on July 26, 2013, and it premiered on January 24, 2015.
The show was renewed six months before the start of the first season due to the positive response it garnered at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Black Sails Season 5 Storyline:
Black Sails takes set some 20 years before what happened of Treasure Island, in the early 18th century, in the Golden Age of Piracy.
