In an interview with Tudum, Coughlan discussed the choice to jump forward, saying that it makes sense to follow Colin and Penelope’s journey earlier: “I feel like if you watch Penelope swooning over this guy for another season, you’ll be like, ‘Get it together! Get over it now, move on.
“Jess has been talking to Luke & me throughout the season, and I believe people will get very fixated. I believe book lovers will be pleased.
The new showrunner Jess Brownell said, “I really feel like it’s Colin and Penelope’s time,” in a Variety interview. We have some interest in each of these actors since we have been following them on our TVs since Season 1. We are familiar with them as persons.
After hearing Colin Bridgerton criticize her last season, Penelope Featherington finally gave up on her long-standing affection on him, according to the official season three description.
However, she has made the decision that it is now time to find a spouse, ideally one who would give her enough freedom to continue living a double life as Lady Whistledown, apart from her mother and sisters.
