Cambodia building collapses, kills 36
Cape, agency. The collapse of a seven-story hotel in South Cambodia killed 36 people. Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen said 23 people had been brought out of the hotel debris alive. How the building collapsed is being investigated.
On Sunday, the rescue team also managed to free a dog trapped in the debris. Hun Sen said that the families of the victims would each receive USD 50,000 in compensation and the injured USD 20,000. He told reporters that the contractor responsible for the construction had died in the accident, while the owner of the building was detained. The rescue effort lasted for more than 40 hours. The army had to take off in rescue operations. Workers and rescue teams cleaned the concrete using drills and power saws. The government has formed an investigation team. The team is investigating whether the standards were followed in the construction of the hotel.

The incident took place on Saturday at the casino-resort in Sihanoukville town, southwestern Cambodia.
