Coronavirus Lockdown in India, Relief package: All the major countries around the world are currently fighting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) global epidemic. According to the Union Health Ministry, there have been 606 positive coronavirus cases in India including 43 foreign nationals. On Thursday, four people died in a single day from its infection. Due to which the death toll has reached 16. India has taken several major steps as a precaution to avoid the deadly virus and has declared a lockdown in the country for 24 days from 24 March. Lockdown is considered a good option to prevent the infection from growing, which other countries are adopting. But in such a situation daily wage earners, farmers and a large number of other people are facing different financial problems. To help these people, on Thursday (26 March 2020) announced a relief package of Rs 1.70 lakh crore. This amount will benefit farmers, poor widows, pensioners and the disabled, organized sector workers and construction workers.
Finance Minister Nirmana Sitharaman on Thursday announced a relief package of Rs 1.70 lakh crore to help the poor of the country overcome the financial difficulties arising out of the Kovid-19 outbreak. Sitharaman said that the economic relief package would mainly focus on migrant laborers and daily laborers. Sitharaman said, “A package is ready for the poor, who need immediate help like migrant workers and urban and rural poor. no one goes hungry. The package is valued at Rs 1.7 lakh crore. ’The package includes food security and direct cash transfer benefits which will provide considerable relief to poor families during lockdown.

5 crore laborers will benefit: Around 5 crore rural laborers working under MGNREGA will benefit from this assistance amount. Their daily wages have been increased from Rs 182 to Rs 202. An additional Rs 2,000 will be earned per laborer.
EPF account of about 80 lakh employees will get so much money: The government will pay 24 percent EPF contribution for three months. Some money will be poured into the PF and some will be given to the employees. By this, both the organized sector employees and the employer i.e. organized sector employees and the work givers will get 12-12 percent of the salary. However, this money will be available only to those whose monthly salary will be 15,000 and there are less than 100 people in the company.
Help of laborers associated with construction work: Workers associated with building and other construction work have a big role in nation building. There is a fund for workers associated with construction work for Central Government employees. It has a fund of 31 thousand crores rupees. State governments have been asked to help the three and a half crore registered laborers.
They will get compensation of Rs 50 lakhs: According to the government press release, the health of scavengers, ward-boys, nurses, paramedics, technicians, doctors and specialists and other employees will be covered by the Special Insurance Scheme. Any health professional who meets an accident while treating COVID-19 patients will be given an amount of Rs 50 lakh under this insurance scheme as compensation.
