Schools and universities have been closed due to the corona virus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Ministry of Human Resource Development to roll out a common learning program from class one to post graduation. According to sources in the ministry, schools and higher education institutions are expected to remain closed by the end of June. The closure of school colleges across the country was announced on 16 March. This was one of the measures to prevent the increasing outbreak of coronavir. Chief Ministers of most states who attended a meeting with the Prime Minister on 11 April were in favor of a nationwide lock-down even after 14 April.
According to sources, whenever the lockdown is removed, it will be done in phases. The educational institution will be opened last. Therefore, online tutoring will replace brick-and-mortar classes for at least a few months. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has one week to launch the platform.
Currently, there is an institutional push for online learning during the shutdown, but government resources are different platforms such as Swayam (India's MOOC platform), Swayam Prabha (DTH educational channel) and the National Digital Library. The director of IISER said, "The outbreak led to the largest online learning exercise ever. We have to keep many things in mind because not all students can use online resources. ”
