The Conjuring 3, the director reveals a surprising inspiration for the new film

In recent weeks, the official trailer of The Conjuring: By order of the devil, the new chapter of the successful horror saga created by James Wan, has arrived on the net. Interviewed by Total Film, director Michael Chaves (La Llorona) unveiled one surprising inspiration for the third film focused on the Warren spouses.

“Until now, these films have remained within a certain type of structure. But we wanted to take them further.” explained the director. Se7en by David Fincher is one of our favorites and we were thrilled to go in that direction – something that surrounds an investigation – within the saga, while using all the supernatural terminology and language. “

Also base the film on a real life case proved to be a challenge, as Chaves explained: “There was a victim in this story. It weighed on us a lot because we knew we had to make a film that was thrilling and scary, and we managed to live up to expectations, but we were also very careful to stay true to the true story.”

The case in question is that of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, who was convicted of first degree manslaughter for the killing of his landlord, Alan Bono. Johnson’s defense at the trial argued that the accused was possessed by a demon when he committed the murder, the first time ever in American history that a case of demonic possession was brought up in court.

The film will debut in Italian cinemas on 3 June. In the meantime, we leave you to the tribute to The Conjuring 3 trailer The Exorcist.
