After establishing a successful eatery in Japan, he emigrated to the United States at age 30 to further his training as a chef and experiment with fusing Japanese and Western cooking styles.
Morimoto started out at Nobu in New York City in 1994, swiftly rising to the position of Executive Chef. After gaining the necessary skills there, Morimoto set out to establish his own restaurant chain.
