Following his breakout character season 2 of this Emmy-winning series Fleabag, Andrew Scott has now landed his second TV function since the talented Mr. Ripley.

Showtime declared Wednesday that the actor will star in the upcoming play Ripley at the very first eight-episode season.

After he's hired by a man to go to attempt to persuade his child to go home, Tom's approval of this job is step one into a lifetime of fraud, deceit, and even murder.

"With Andrew Scott, whose attraction knows no boundaries, occupying the iconic lead character, we feel convinced this is going to be a unique person," Showtime manager Gary Levine said in a statement.

Scott is taking on the reins of this iconic personality brought to existence by Matt Damon at the 1999 movie adaptation The Talented Mr. Ripley which additionally starred Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cate Blanchett.
