The four-part documentary follows a guy as he investigates the circumstances beneath his brother Scott Russell Johnson’s suicide. Never Let Him Go Season 1 Storyline:
George and Margaret Blackledge, together with their son James and his wife Lorna and their baby son Jimmy, are ranchers in Montana in 1961. George is a former sheriff.
Margaret notices that James’ horse is out alone one day and worries that something is amiss. When George rushes out to the woods, he discovers James’s corpse by the brook; he had fallen from his horse & broken his neck.
In 1963, Lorna marries Donnie Weboy, even though it’s clear she’s not in love with him and just wants him for Jimmy’s sake. Margaret observes Lorna, Donnie, & Jimmy having ice cream one day while they are out shopping.
Donnie pulls Jimmy’s arm roughly when Jimmy lets go of his, and he hits Lorna when she tries to intervene. When Margaret later stops over to see how Lorna is doing, she learns that all three pair have already left town from one of their tenants. Margaret returns home and begins making preparations to rescue Jimmy; George, at first hesitant, eventually agrees to accompany her.
A local sheriff in Forsyth, Montana, provides George and Margaret with a lead, and a store owner with ties to the Weboys suggests they try their luck in Gladstone, North Dakota.
George is taken aback to see that Margaret has packed George’s handgun, but Margaret insists she needs it. Peter Dragswolf, a young Native American guy, is one of the people they meet on their journey outside of Gladstone. He gives them something to eat and a place to sleep for the night and instructs them to find Bill Weboy, who is really Donnie’s uncle.
George and Margaret set off the next morning to meet Bill on the road. Donnie’s mom, Blanche, calls Bill and says she’d want to meet the Blackledges.
After Lorna and Jimmy arrive at her home, Blanche first seems kind with them, but she soon reveals her real colors by making harsh remarks to the Blackledges & speaking angrily to Lorna.
George and Margaret surprise Lorna with a lunchtime visit to her office the next day. They beg with her to go home to Montana with Jimmy, but Lorna is afraid about what Donnie may do if she attempts to leave. However, she is persuaded to leave after the Weboys have gone to bed.
With the help of the true crime film, further details concerning the mysterious murder of American mathematician Scott Russell Johnson, age 27, will be made public.
He was well-known for his intelligence and kindness, but his controversial death in 1988 changed everything. Scott Johnson’s nude corpse was discovered near Blue Fish Point, a 200-foot bluff off North Head in Sydney.
