Good Omens Season 2 Storyline:
The plot of the next season of Good Omens hasn’t been talked about much, but Neil Gaiman, who is back as the showrunner, gave a few hints about just what fans could indeed look forward to in an official statement about the show’s renewal.
In the statement, the author talked about when he and Terry Pratchett first began planning a possible sequel to the book.
He said: “I got to use parts of a sequel in Good Omens, which is where our angels come from. Terry is no longer here, but when he was, we chatted about what humans wished to accomplish with Good Omens and where we thought the story was going.”
Gaiman said this about Season 2: “We’re back in Soho, and we’re going all over time and space to solve a mystery that begins with an angel who has no memory wandering around Soho.”
From what we’ve seen so far, we can presume that both hell and heaven, and especially the angels, will play a big part in the next season. We might even get a glimpse of how Aziraphale and Crowley got their starts.
Gaiman called the season “quiet, gentle, and romantic” in a Twitter video that Amazon Studios posted last year. Fans have started to think that the show’s main angel and demon might fall in love because of this.
When the season was first being made, Gaiman said, “I’m so glad to be back on the streets of Soho, where I can watch Michael Sheen and David Tennant’s wonderful performances every day.” “I miss Terry Pratchett’s brilliance, but it feels like we are all still inside his head.”
He kept going: “In this season, we get to go on adventures with old friends, solve some very mysterious mysteries, and meet new humans (alive, dead, and otherwise), angels, and demons.
We were lucky to have so many great actors in the first season, so it was fun for me to bring people back, sometimes in the same roles they had before and sometimes in new ones authored just for them.”
In June 2021, more than two years after the first season premiered, the news came out.
It was also confirmed that David Tennant and Michael Sheen would be back in their roles. Gaiman, who will also be a co-showrunner, explained:
“It’s been 31 years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s been 32 years since Terry Pratchett and I laid in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention and planned the sequel.”
“In Good Omens, I was able to use parts of the sequel, that’s where our gods came from. Terry is no longer here, but back when he was alive, we talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens and where we wanted the story to go next. And now I get to take it there, thx to BBC Production companies and Amazon.”
Gaiman had changed his mind several times about whether or not there would be a second season of the show. In March 2019, shortly before the initial season aired, he said that there wouldn’t be a second season after all.
At SXSW in Austin, Texas, he said, “The good thing regarding Good Omens is that it has a start, a middle, and an end.”
“Good Omens season 1 is called Good Omens. It’s a great idea. It is over. You have six, and we’re done. We won’t try to put all of these things in to make it last forever.”
