Hannibal Season 4: Release Date, Cast, Storyline, Trailer Release, and Everything You Need to Know

Since the success of The Silence of the Lambs, Hollywood has been at a loss on how to reimagine the terrifying cannibal. The third season finale of the Netflix original series Hannibal left fans wanting more, and the show’s popularity has only increased since then.

Many viewers are still hooked on the Netflix series, and many more are wondering when the next book will drop. There has been no confirmed news about season 4 of Hannibal.

After the show’s run on NBC ended, it was reported that the producers were in negotiations with other studios. Not much has happened since then, and creator Bryan Fuller has admitted that Season 4 of Hannibal may be a ways off. Considering how popular the first three seasons of Hannibal have been with Netflix viewers, it’s safe to say that there’s a lot of interest in a fourth installment.

Hannibal Season 4 Release Date

There has been no word on whether or not Hannibal will return for a fourth season. Hugh Dancy also said that it has been ten years since Hannibal’s third season premiered. He expressed interest in reprising his role in the film with Mads Mikkelsen and stated he hoped it will happen soon. Dancy speculated, “Well, actually, that might be slightly gross,” and predicted that the internet population would eventually agree. The third season of Hannibal, according to Dancy, concluded in a “fairly conclusive fashion,” so at least there weren’t any major cliffhangers or story threads that were abruptly halted.

Hannibal Story

Jack Crawford, the chief of the FBI’s behavioral sciences division, recruits FBI profiler Will Graham to investigate a serial murderer in Minnesota. Crawford realizes the strain of the investigation on Graham and chooses to put him under the watchful eye of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a forensic psychiatrist. Lecter, a serial murderer and cannibal, first attempts to control the FBI from inside. The closer Lecter gets to Graham, the more his life is in jeopardy. Lecter is intrigued by Graham’s ability to relate to psychopaths and tests the limits of his frail sanity in an effort to transform him into one himself.

Hannibal Season 4 Cast

Although the cast for any Hannibal revival is still purely speculation at this point, series regulars Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal Lecter), Hugh Dancy (Will Graham), Gillian Anderson (Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier), Ral Esparza (Dr. Frederick Chilton), Scott Thompson (Jimmy Price), Aaron Abrams (Brian Zeller), and Caroline Dhavernas (Dr. Alana Bloom) all participated in a reunion panel in July 2020.

Since Will Graham’s employer Jack Crawford had such a significant part in the novel, it’s likely that Laurence Fishburne would be asked to return to his role in the film adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs.

Fuller has also said that the Hobbit actor Lee Pace, with whom he worked on the television series Pushing Daisies, is the man he has in mind to portray the book’s antagonist, Buffalo Bill. While Jodie Foster was the obvious choice to play FBI agent Clarice Starling in the 1991 film version of The Silence of the Lambs, he opted for Ellen Page.

Hannibal Season 3 Ending

The third and final season of Hannibal was an adaptation of two of Thomas Harris’s Lecter books, with the adaptation of the 1999 book Hannibal coming first and the adaptation of 1981’s Red Dragon coming second.

Hannibal Lecter, Will Graham, and serial murderer Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage) had a brutal last showdown as the series concluded. Hannibal is happy that Will has become his deadly partner-in-crime after he and Graham work together to overpower and kill Dolarhyde in a clifftop battle. Will, finally accepting his new identity, throws his arms around Hannibal and drags him down the precipice.

However, in a post-credits scene, we see Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson), who is seated at a dining table. She has now lost a leg, which has been prepared and is presented on the table, which is arranged for three. Will and Hannibal, presumably still alive after their fall down the cliff, are paying Bedelia a visit.

Hannibal Season 4 Plot

The plot summary for Season 4 of Hannibal has not yet been made public. And fans shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for one any time soon. But after seeing the whole thing over again on Netflix, we know for sure what lies next for Hannibal.

Even if it seems like Will and Hannibal have met their deaths after their falls, it’s not like they haven’t managed to outwit death in the past. Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, at least, seemed to have made it through the credits unscathed as she was seen sitting down to an elaborate lunch, although without a specific body part.

The most logical continuation of the plot would be to have an actress play Clarice Starling in an adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs, in which she confronts Hannibal Lecter in an effort to stop another serial murderer. Season 4 of Hannibal might go this direction, and it wouldn’t be completely out of left field, since showrunner Bryan Fuller has already suggested as much.
