Apparently the narrative universe of John Wick could begin to expand very soon: while Starz is preparing for the production of the prequel TV series The Continental, in the past few hours new details have emerged on the highly anticipated John Wick 4 with protagonist Keanu Reeves.
According to new cast notes, the fourth chapter of the main saga could be connected to the spin-off film Ballerina, currently in production at Lionsgate. From what emerged, the casting of John Wick 4 is looking for a woman between the ages of 20 and 30 to interpret an unnamed role called "Ballerina". And, a not inconsiderable detail, the part is listed as a co-star along with the main character and another nameless character, cited as "Asian Mentor" who is not even associated with an age.
It should also be noted that the note, published at the end of February but only emerged in the past few hours, indicates that the production at the time had just started a rewrite of the script. In fact, last month Keanu Reeves himself was spotted in Berlin preparing for the start of filming on John Wick 4.
As for the spin-off Ballerina, last year it was suggested that Chloe Grace Moretz was in pole position for the starring role but has been lost since. However the project is alive and well, and is produced by the director of John Wick Chad Stahelski. The author, about the spin-off, previously stated: "We are not just copying ourselves: because the character is different, we will have a different view of things. But as far as level, proficiency or style of action goes, yes, it will be in line with the John Wick show and I myself intend to be on set to help out whenever I can. And our stunt team will be very actively involved in helping Len Wiseman [regista di Ballerina, ndr] for every need".
John Wick: Chapter 4 currently has a release date set for May 27, 2022.
