After the first announcements Mads Mikkelsen had slyly denied her involvement in Fantastic Beasts 3 to replace Johnny depp in the role of villain Grindelwald, but with the arrival of the official confirmation, the Danish actor has also released the first interview.
Speaking of the differences that fans of Harry Potter e Fantastic Beasts they can expect between his Grindelwald and Johnny Depp's, Mads Mikkelsen stated:
"Well, I'll be playing this new Grindelwald, so that's a difference!", the actor joked, only to get serious."No, actually this is the hard part. We are still working on it. There must be a bridge between what Johnny did and what I will do. And at the same time, I also have to be able to make the role my own. But we have to find some of the links to the previous version of the character and build bridges so that he doesn't completely break away from what Johnny had already masterfully achieved".
Mikkelsen was also asked of the unconventional circumstances that led him to the coveted role of Fantastic Beasts 3, i.e. the legal dispute between Johnny Depp e Amber Heard. "From a work point of view, it's obviously super interesting to me", ha detto Mikkelsen."It's also shocking that it came after what happened, which is just a very sad thing. I wish you both the best. These are sad circumstances. I hope they can both be back in the saddle very soon".
Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production and has a release date set for July 14, 2022. However, it is not clear how many films are still left in the series, considering how badly the second chapter was received. Either way, it will be interesting to see what Mikkelsen does with this role, given his prowess especially as the villains.
