During a recent interview with Den of Geek, James Gunn revealed that the first thing he had to do when he started working on The Suicide Squad was ignore the potential consequences of killing a character.
Sharing the site’s post on Twitter, the director further explained that, three months after the film’s theatrical release, he is continuing to receive threats every day precisely with regard to possible deaths of The Suicide Squad, since he himself has anticipated to fans to “not get too attached” to the characters of the film.
“This morning on Instagram: ‘This is a threat. If you kill (a character’s name) you will become the victim of a hate crime of mine.’ Every. Single. Day “ Gunn tweeted, adding that thankfully he now has learned to ignore these kinds of comments. “If you read the comments under this thread, they are about an average of 75 and 50 positive versus 1 negative. Too many artists fixate on negative comments and become numb to positive ones. I try not to notice and stay focused on what I love. to do.”
