Mrs. America Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Storyline, Trailer Release, and Everything You Need to Know

The first season of the American miniseries Mrs. America is based on the real events surrounding Phyllis Schlafly’s (Cate Blanchett) leadership of the Equal Rights Movement’s opponents.

Davhi Waller authored it, and FX Network produced it. Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, Elizabeth Banks, John Slattery, Tracey Ullman, & Sarah Paulson are all part of the ensemble cast.

Mrs. America Season 2 is the latest installment of the Mrs. America Series, a miniseries about American history that was made by FX and shown on HULU.

Davi Waller is the creator and co-writer of Mrs. America. Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Amma Asante, Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, and Janicza Bravo are the film’s directors.

In Mrs. America, conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly details the futile political attempt to pass the Equal Rights Amendment and the unexpected reaction that followed.

Through the eyes of the women who lived through that time, including Schlafly and well-known second-wave feminists like Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug, and Jill Ruckelshaus, the TFA series explores how one of the most contentious battlegrounds in the 1970s culture wars contributed to the Moral Majority’s emergence and irrevocably changed the American political landscape.

Mrs. America Season 2 Release Date:

Mrs. America had a stellar cast and a ton of fascinating historical details, so it was sure to attract a loyal following.

The fact that there was just one nine-episode season produced, particularly after it received rave reviews from critics and an a record-breaking 10 Emmy nominations, has fans wondering whether there will ever be a second.

Mrs. America Season two has not yet been given a release date. It’s because Mrs. America hasn’t yet been renewed for a second season.

Since Mrs. America was always marketed as a limited series, it is unfortunate that it is doubtful that Mrs. America would return for another season. There is, nevertheless, a slim chance that it may reappear.

Mrs. America Season 2 Storyline:

In Mrs. America, it is revealed that Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative supporter of Barry Goldwater & a frequent candidate for Congress, chooses against running again owing to ongoing harassment from her male employees and Fred Schlafly’s lack of backing.

Instead, she starts a fresh campaign to stop 38 states from ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

Gloria Steinem, editor-in-chief of Ms. magazine, uses her position as co-founder of the National Women’s Political Caucus to lead the fight for women’s rights, such as equal pay and have access to abortion, while Schlafly employs her grassroots campaign to prevent ratification of the ERA in her home state of Illinois.

On the floor of the 1972 Democratic National Convention, Shirley Chisholm, an African-American congresswoman and potential presidential candidate, vowed to continue running as Steinem spoke for abortion rights.

Schlafly tries to make the recently renamed Stop ERA campaign into a national convention while calming down racial overtones from Southern States attendees.

Betty Friedan, author of The Feminine Mystique and director of the Nationwide Organization for Women (NOW), challenges Schlafly to a debate on the ERA against the advice of Steinem and NOW. Prior to losing her temper and conceding the argument to Schlafly, Friedan seemed to be dominating the discussion.

A traditional couple, Fred and Phyllis Schlafly, who are grappling with Phyllis’s campaign and Phyllis’s pregnancy as well as Brenda’s experimentation with another woman, dispute Brenda & Marc Feigen-Fasteau, a feminism pair.

Phyllis tries to use a case during the discussion to support her viewpoint, but when she fails to, Brenda refutes Phyllis’ assertion. As a result, Phyllis decides to apply in law school.

Jill Ruckelshaus, a pro-ERA and pro-choice Republican, worked to unite the party at the 1976 Republican National Convention in opposition to the growing anti-ERA and pro-life movement headed by Schlafly.

Gerald Ford chooses Bill Ruckelshaus to be his running mate for vice president, but Jill and Bill are disappointed to find that Bob Dole was really Ford’s initial pick.

Chisholm makes an effort to form a committee to combat sexual harassment among senators and there female staff members, much to Bella Abzug’s dismay.

Schlafly seeks to enhance the size of her mailing list by working with a different organization that wants to further a more fiercely pro-life and anti-gay agenda.

After giving a speech at a luncheon, a male waiter hits Schlafly in the face with a pie, causing Schlafly to lose her left eye.

Bella Abzug, a former congressman and founding member of the National Women’s Political Caucus, ran successfully for the Senate in 1976 and was subsequently selected to serve as the conference’s president in Houston the following November. A counter-rally is being planned by Schlafly for the day following the conference in Houston.

For the first time without Schlafly, the STOP ERA women are invited to the 1977 National Women’s Conference in Houston to promote their cause.

Alice approaches the hotel bar after feeling confused by her surroundings, where she encounters a woman who at first glance seems to be a bedmate but is really a feminist.

The lady hands her an LSD-laced relaxation medication. After that, Alice “trips” as and seems to be questioning both her own beliefs towards women’s rights and the tactics used by the STOP ERA group to try to succeed.

Carter appoints Abzug as the head of his commission on women’s rights, much to the chagrin of Steinem and others with whom she collaborates.

While supporting Reagan in 1980, Schlafly sets her eyes on seeking the first ERA ratification deadline extend and pushing for a Cabinet position.

Reagan thanks Schlafly for her help after the election but rejects her pitch for a position in his new administration as she is too polarizing.
