High School Musical The Series Season 4 Storyline:
Tim Federle, who is in charge of High School Musical, talked to People about what will happen next and how season four is a “real return to the original.”
“[It’s] the real return to why the show was picked up in the first place, which is real theatre children singing at this iconic location, aka East High,” he said.
But what else will happen after that? Federle says that there is a way out if the show is cancelled after season four:
“I think I’ve said in the past that we’ll have seven seasons, and I still want that, but I think, apart from Cobra Kai, we’re the longest-running reboot right now, which is something we’re all very, very thankful for and proud of.
“I know where I want all the characters to end up, no matter how long the show lasts. I think that’s something Disney and I will decide together.”
When that time comes, would the original actors like Olivia Rodriguez come back? Federle said, “A lot of people have become component of our relatives, and when we get to that day, I hope it’s just a big, happy party on set.”
Back in July 2022, after her actor went from being a regular to a recurring one, the showrunner Tim Federle said that Olivia Rodrigo would not be back to play Nini Salazar-Roberts in future seasons.
Federle said that Olivia had to leave the show because of scheduling conflicts. The pop star has had a lot of success and just finished her first world tour.
The showrunner said that Nini would be given a “proper sendoff” in season 3, but that other characters would also be able to “step into the limelight.”
Federle told Entertainment Weekly, “I think it’s probable that, for now, we have so many members of the cast we love and who we’re serving that I don’t think there are any immediate plans for Nini to be a big part of the show going forward.” “But the world often surprises me, so I never say “never”.”
