“Thanks to our squad at HBO Max, our dedicated executive producers, and with us crazy-excited audience, we were able to take another trip to this world.”
Jenkins cares a lot about fans and always says that the success of the show is thanks to them. “You don’t know what’s going to happen,” he told Gizmodo.

Our Flag Means Death Season 2 Storyline:
Before the second season of Our Flag Means Death comes out, HBO Max released an official synopsis, that you can read in full here:
“Stede gave up his life as a “gentleman” and became the commander of the party boat Vengeance.
He did this because he didn’t like being a “gentleman” anymore. Stede had trouble getting the respect of his possibly rebellious crew, but his luck changed when he met the famous Captain Blackbeard.
Stede and Blackbeard were very different, but they became friends on the high seas. To their surprise, they also fell in love. They must now make it through.”
Even though that summary doesn’t reveal much, there are still a lot more clues regarding what’s to come.
On July 31, 2022, this post by creator David Jenkins hinted that we were about to face a lot of emotional trouble:
Jenkins went into more detail about this in a subsequent interview with Decider. He said that season pair will be mostly about the relationship between Stede and Ed because “the show is the relationship.”
Jenkins says, “We finish up in a situation where there is a breakup.” “What happens when these two people break up, and one of them realises he loves the other and the other is hurt in a way he’s never ever been potentially harm before?
What does that mean for each of them in a dangerous pirate world where they are in search of each other?”
As if that weren’t enough to worry about, there’s also the additional problem of Izzy. Jenkins told Verge that Ed’s right-hand man was “Absolutely in love” with Blackbeard.”
It’s a very broken kind of love, and he feels like a jilted partner who’s starting to lose his guy to f**king Stede Bonnet. He can’t believe what’s happening.
In season two, Izzy will probably do more pouting and betrayal. Jenkins wants to end the sequence sooner than you might think, so season two will feel like the center act of a three-act story (via The Wrap).
“I like the idea of three seasons. I think it could be done in three steps. I mean, I don’t know. In the writers’ room, your idea about what the narrative is really about changes a lot.
If it doesn’t, then you’re not doing it right. Because you have all these other smart writers with their own personal experiences, and users talk thru the season with people, then you’re like, “Oh, man, there’s a lot of both these stuff there.”
“But I think we could probably finish it in three. What interests me about this narrative and tends to make me would like to write a show about it is trying to figure out who Stede is to Blackbeard and who Blackbeard is to Stede.
I think that’s the theme that runs through the whole series. I don’t think you want that to continue for another five or six seasons.”

After seeing this show, I had such a good mood. It was an amazingly well-done production with a great group of actors. Our Flag Means Dying is a must-see movie, and if it doesn’t come back, I’ll lose faith in people.
