The Paranormal Activity sequel on Paramount + will be in good company. A new film by Pet Sematary which will serve as a prequel to Stephen King's horror adaptation, is destined for the new streaming platform linked to the major. The news comes from the upper floors of Paramount, which is reviewing its strategies for digital.
Paramount has announced major projects to change their approach to today's new films, revealing that major blockbusters like the sequels to Mission: Impossible and A Quiet Place - Part II would debut on the Paramount + streaming service 45 days after their respective theatrical release.
However, the studio is also planning the ability to stream movies directly, bypassing theatrical distribution.
One of the films that will end up directly in streaming is the sequel to Paranormal Activity on Paramount +, as announced a few days ago. There are no details on the plot but we know that it will be a new 'unexpected chapter of the saga'.
We now know that another title destined for streaming is the prequel to Pet Sematary, an origin story of Stephen King's horror plot. The script will be by Jeff Buhler, with Lorenzo DiBonaventura in production.
"I think if something is there it's a prequel. I think if you look at the book we haven't covered all those things that happen before the Creed family moves in. So I think there's a movie there, and I think I'd be particularly interested in doing it " diBonaventura said.
In 2017 Paramount said goodbye to Universal in Italy, with Fox taking its place in the distribution of the films.
