Saw’s legacy, that’s why the film won’t feature Billy the Snowman

It is very close to the return of the Saw franchise in theaters but fans will notice a little big change. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, the film centers on a police officer played by Chris Rock who finds himself investigating what appears to be a Jigsaw killer imitator.

This time the new killer has a new doll, a pig in the uniform of a police officer, setting aside the puppet Billy for the first time.
Despite this absence it is Billy the Puppet who gives the name to the film; Spiral refers precisely to the spiral painted on Billy’s cheeks. But the franchise is undergoing a change. Spiral will be in cinemas from June 16, also in Italian cinemas.

“If I had been called to direct Saw 9 it would have been a very different thing from directing Spiral, I think it’s important for me to differentiate the two. And I didn’t want to insult fans by trying to create another Jigsaw because there’s only one Tobin Bell and no one can compare with what that character brought. So I wanted to go towards something totally different. I wanted the killer to be so different from Jigsaw that there would be no comparison to that. They are different people. walking that path you have to change everything a bit. Because if you are throwing Jigsaw out you have to change the puppet too “ Bousman said.
