Waddingham just finished her three-season run as Rebecca Welton on the aforementioned Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis; while the comedy’s run may be over, the Emmy winner has previously expressed enthusiasm for a spinoff centered on a Richmond women’s club, which Keeley pitched to Rebecca in the show’s May 31 series finale.
The potential of what was read by Waddingham and Juno Temple in August was so great that they were at a loss for words. To quote from the script: “Oh, it’s on.
I was supposed to glance out of the folder & be all like, ‘Oh, it’s on.’ But our exhilaration was too much to control. If you really think about it, we do experience that “Aghhhh!” moment.
