LaKeith Stanfield, the star of Judas and the Black Messiah apologizes for the anti-Semitic chat

In the last few years, LaKeith Stanfield I have won critical acclaim several times, and was listed by Variety magazine as one of the best performers of his generation. This year he even won an Oscar nomination for Judas and the Black Messiah, but in the last few hours, something has gone wrong.

Stanfield was harshly criticized for taking part in a chat on Clubhouse which rained heavy insults against Jews, and so the actor decided to publicly apologize with a long post on social media, even though he didn’t say anything that could be misunderstood.

“Yesterday I walked into an online chat room on Clubhouse dedicated to Louis Farrakhan. When the participants in the room noticed me, I was quickly appointed moderator. At some point during the conversation, the discussion has heavily degenerated. Several users have made repugnant anti-Semitic statements and at that point I should have closed the discussion or completely distanced myself from it. I condemn hate speech and discriminatory views of all kinds. I apologize unconditionally for what happened in that chat room and for allowing myself to take part in that hate speech. I am not an anti-Semite nor do I support any of those things said in that chat room. “
