Star Trek and Seinfield actor Richard Herd loses his life

The beloved actor was 87 years old, he participated in other important productions such as "V, Extraterrestrial Invasion" and "The China Syndrome".

Richard Herd, the veteran actor known for playing Mr. Wilhelm in the comedy "Seinfeld" and who appeared in critically acclaimed films such as "All the President's Men" and "The China Syndrome," unfortunately lost his life on Tuesday.

After a long and hard battle with cancer, Herd perished at his home in Los Angeles, the sad news was released by his wife, also actress Patricia Crowder, to the Hollywood media.

His career of approximately five decades began in his first role in a television series, playing Captain Sheridan, in the US television network police action drama “T.J. Hooker ”.

The born in Boston, later joined the ranks of science fiction when he gave life to the Supreme Commander John in the mini series "V, Alien Invasion" in the year of 1983 and later we could see it in the three installments of the iconic "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

Herd appeared 11 times in three seasons of "Seinfeld" as the character Wilhelm, the clueless New York Yankees executive who oversees George Costanza (Jason Alexander). The actor himself said he was surprised to have been chosen to play the role.

A few years later, we were able to see it on the big screen with incredible productions such as "F.I.S.T." in 1979, "The Onion Field in the same year," Planes, Trains and Automobiles "in 1987 and" Midnight in Garden of Good and Evil "in 1997.

Even at 80 years of age, she continued to appear in major television series, including being a member of the ensemble on the 2012 prank show "Betty White's Off They Rockers."

It should be noted that in addition to being a great actor, Richard Herd was also a painter and founding member of The Enterprise Blues Band, made up of cast members from Star Trek. This group released in 2004 and 2005 musical productions called Enterprise Blues and Intergalactic Roots, respectively.
