Is Venom 2 part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? All the easter eggs in the trailer!

The official trailer for Venom: The Fury of Carnage has been available online for a few days now, and some fans could not help but notice some references to Spider-Man and in general to the universe of the House of Ideas. But will the film be connected in some way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

The explanation came directly from director Andy Serkis, who in an interview with IGN confirmed that Venom 2 will be set in a world apart compared to the adventures of Tom Holland’s wall climber. “Obviously there are links between Venom and Spider-Man and between the Marvel Universe and the Spider-Man story. But we’re treating this movie as a world apart.” Serkis explained. “Venom’s story is set in a world of its own. There are references to small moments, of course, but overall no one is as familiar with other characters as Spider-Man.”

Here instead we present all the easter eggs in the trailer:

  • When Eddie Brock walks into Ms. Chen’s convenience store, you can see one on the right photo on Stan Lee on the cover of a magazine.
  • In the movie appears the Daily Bugle, the famous newspaper for which Peter Parker works. Judging by the logo and the fact that there is a print version of it, we know for sure that it will not be the Daily Bugle in online format introduced in the MCU on the Spider-Man: Far From Home finale.
  • About the newspaper edited by J. Jonah James, inside the newspaper there is a word ending with “engers” that many have associated with MCU Avengers. Since the film is not set in the Avengers franchise, however, it’s possible that it’s another news-related word like “passengers” or “messengers”.

We remind you that the film will arrive in Italian cinemas this fall. Meanwhile, Serkis anticipated Shriek’s role in Venom 2.
