Known to most for playing Meriadoc ‘Merry’ Brandybuck and Peregrino “Pippin” Tuc in the film trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, Dominic Monaghan e Billy Boyd have launched a new podcast dedicated to the legendary Peter Jackson saga.
Entitled The Friendship Onion, the show will include interviews with the cast and crew of The Lord of the Rings and will seek to answer numerous questions from fans, with the aim of exploring behind the scenes of the three films. To present the podcast, the two actors attended an AMA session on Reddit in which they recalled their time on the set in New Zealand.
Asked about the more difficult scene to shoot, for example, Boyd stated: “For me it was the one outside the gates of Moria. It was a cold and wet night, the rain was coming into our hobbit feet, it was terrible … We thought we had to stop and remove the fake feet, but we managed to get her to home, it has never been so good to take a hot bath. “
The actors then unveiled their favorite moments of Merry and Pippin. “I like the scenes with Billy and Ian [McKellen] towards the finale of The Return of the King, when Pippin thinks he might die … “ Monaghan explained, while Boyd chose a touching sequence that affects both of them: “I appreciated how Dom played the scene where he says goodbye to Pippin when he leaves with Gandalf.”
Finally, Monaghan commented on where scene Viggo Mortensen broke two toes after kicking a helmet. “He deserved it for all the headlines he gave us,” joked the actor.
Speaking of Middle-earth, the monstrous budget of the Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon Prime Video was recently revealed.
