When Aelita West entered the Research Center director Dr. Cherise Nuland’s hidden basement using a peripheral powered by Flynne Fisher from 2032, her company suffered a breach of important information, according to season one of The Peripheral.
Cherise was most interested in the neural adjustment implant that R.I. had created that could change people’s behavior.
Cherise’s well-laid plan would probably come to an end if the Klept, Met, and general public reacted negatively if this secret was made known.
In the last episode of The Peripheral’s first season, Flynne finally assumes command and deals with Zubov, Cherise, and Jackpot.
Flynne covers her 2032 stub & relieves Cherise of her burden—at least temporarily—by creating a fresh splinter in the record with Inspector Ainsley Lowbeer of the Met.
The material environment of the periphery has been permanently changed, but the threat posed by the Research Institute is still very much there.
As The Peripheral season 1 comes to a close, the conflict between the R.I., Klept, and Met is intensifying, and Flynne is still positioned in the middle of that cozy group.
