After seeing the new images of Camila Cabello in the role of Cinderella, here comes a new look on the net at another important character of the musical recently purchased by Amazon, or the fairy godmother played by Billy Porter.
To avoid comparisons with previous versions, director and screenwriter Kay Cannon decided to build the role right around the Pose star, writing the part specifically for the actor’s characteristics. “Billy fueled the idea that magic has no gender” Canon explained to Entertainment Weekly, which exclusively published the image you can take a look at at the bottom of the news.
Porter will also star in a musical number written to “fit his voice perfectly and leave a strong impact”. “I think it only appears on screen for 12 minutes, but it will be your favorite part of the movie” added the director of Hands off our daughters.
Described as a musical reinterpretation of the celebrated fairy tale, Cinderella will include both pop songs by contemporary international artists and original songs by Camila Cabello and Idina Menzel. The release on Amazon Prime Video, which acquired the distribution rights from Sony Pictures, is set for next September an exact date still to be decided.
