John David Washington, the Tenet star protagonist of the new sci-fi by Gareth Edwards

New project on the horizon for John David Washington, star of True Love, a science fiction film directed by Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One. Confirmation comes from Deadline. Washington is known to the general public for his dual stint in Christopher Nolan and Malcolm & Marie’s Tenet, alongside Zendaya.

True Love’s plot details have so far been kept under wraps but the film is being described as a science fiction story set in the near future. Edwards will write and direct, again teaming up with Rogue One producer Kiri Hart.

John David Washington’s career appears to be rapidly growing, after starring in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman in 2018. Following his success with Tenet and Malcolm & Marie, Washington will work on David O. Russell’s next film, alongside a stellar cast that includes Margot Robbie, Christian Bale and Robert De Niro , as well as starring in the Netflix thriller, Beckett, produced by the director of Call Me By Your Name, Luca Guadagnino.
Gareth Edwards is known for directing the Star Wars spin-off, Rogue One, and for Godzilla, released in 2014, the first MonsterVerse film.
True Love is Edwards’ fourth film as director following his 2010 debut with Monster.
