The White Lotus Season 3 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Everything You Need to Know
The finale of season 2 of A White Lotus on HBO was as shocking as a whodunit could be. We still didn't see it coming, though. Tanya, played by Jennifer Coolidge, falls off the edge of a yacht and dies.
The next day, Daphne (Meghann Fahy) finds her body in the Ionian Sea and the bodies of the people she killed to get away. Hey, Tanya at least came out swinging. She really should have taken off her heels first, though.
Similar to the first period, White Lotus creator or showrunner Mike White drew people in with epic settings (Hawaii and then Sicily) and a complex web of characters. Who would have thought that at the end of such an installment, we'd all be cheering for just a pair of sneaky escorts?
As it did turn out, he is best at taking advantage of troubled and very rich people on vacation, and people would do anything to see such elites get played. And they sure did. Now that fans have been done making guesses about how the show will end, there is only one question left: where else would White take us next? White Lotus's third season is already being talked about.
Fans are analyzing every bit of information that the filmmaker and the writer have given so far. When will it be available? Who will play the roles? About what will it be? Here, we explain everything you ought to know about the upcoming season.
The second season of HBO's The White Lotus is over, and we're looking forward to more episodes as well as the season finale, which has been confirmed. The second season took place at a made-up White Lotus hotel in Sicily, Italy.
Tanya and Greg, played by Jennifer Coolidge but rather Jon Gries, were the only characters from the first season to return. As the holiday goes on, just like in the first season, problems start to show up between the guests, and just like during the first ep, a dead body would be found at the finale of the season.
The White Lotus should employ the best public relations staff in the hotel industry: Even though there has been a string of murders just at luxury hotels in the resort collection, guests still are booking more stays. Before the end of season 2, HBO gave The White Lotus a green light for a third season, and there is at least a small chance that Jennifer Coolidge's character could come back from the dead.
Tanya McQuoid-Hunt died in the season 2 finale after a failed assassination attempt, a concussion, and drowning. However, showrunner Mike White still cares a lot about Coolidge's character. Aside from that juicy bit of information, we don't know much about season 3, so there's a lot of room for supposition. Let's look at the clues we've found so far.
The White Lotus Season 3 Release Date
Season 3 hasn't started shooting yet. Nobody knows when the show will start. But we'll try to guess as best we can. In July 2021, the very first season of A White Lotus came out. In October 2022, a little more than a year after the first episode, the second one aired.
So, the game may come out in late 2023 or initially 2024. Theo James recently informed Rolling Stone that season two was shot in Sicily for about six months. This gives us at least a rough idea of when the show will be made.
The White Lotus Season 3 Cast
If you remember, Coolidge and Greys's characters were the sole ones who carried over from the first season to the second, so it wouldn't be too surprised if they came back for the third season. Even so, it's not clear if Coolidge will play her role again in any way since Tanya died in a tragic accident. If White decides to keep the story going, Portia may come back, too.
And at that point, Michael Imperioli may show up again. The Sopranos actor tried to tell Esquire that in a recent conversation only with the showrunner, White said, "Who knows, maybe a second White Lotus season in which Dominic comes to his wife and they make up."
Lastly, don't rule out the chance that yet another White Lotus vet will come back: This year, White is said to have told Connie Britton, who played Nicole in the first season, that her character could come back. Britton told Deadline, "He wanted me to appear in season 2, and he had an idea I loved again for the character." "We plan to do it during the third season.
A part of the casting for the second season didn't work, and we hope to fix that during the third season. I'd love for every character on that show to get their show. If that's the case, Britton's high-strung type-A executive could be Tanya in season three. That sounds like a very interesting idea. But hey, in a week, a lot can change.

The White Lotus Season 3 Plot
Mike White, the show's creator, told Deadline at the start of the second season: "Just yesterday, we gave the network our last episode, so it's difficult to think of the next race. But if we appear to have done, I think it would be fun to go to another continent. We went to Europe, and if we did something crazy like go to Asia or something, that would be fun."
That after the finale aired, there was an extra clip at the end that talked about White's interest in a third season set in Asia. In it, he said: "The first season was mostly about money, and season 2 is all about sex. I believe the third season might be a satirical as well as funny look at death, Eastern religion, and spirituality. Doing the next round at White Lotus seems like it's a rich tapestry."
We can also expect the usual shifting of power based on sex, class, or gender, in addition to some old good-butt stuff. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, however, Mike White hinted at something extra when he talked about what season two would be like already when Sicily took over:
"At first, it was more like a Bilderberg meeting, and the goal was to talk about the bigger power structures there. But Sicily was nothing at all like the idea I had pitched. That wasn't right." That means that in season three, we might see some world leaders from America and Europe getting down with their weird selves once at the new White Lotus resort. That is if White is still thinking about the idea within a week of season two.
In the third season, there will be a new bunch of guests, similar to how the cast of the first season passed the baton to the cast of the second season. In an interview on HBO after the show's finale, White said that season 3 will be about, well, death.
"The first season was kind of about money, and the second season was about sex. I think the third weather would be a funny satire about death, eastern religion, and spirituality. And it seems like doing another session of White Lotus could result in a rich tapestry," he said.
Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming and face of HBO drama series and films, gave the season 3 go-ahead. She didn't say much about the possible storyline, but she did say that she was excited about what creator Mike White had in mind.
"He just keeps getting better and better in season 2," Orsi said earlier, "which is the best proof of Mike's raw, unique vision." "His willingness to discover the uncharted territory of the human mind, along with the irreverent humor or buoyant way he directs, makes us all wish we could spend more vacation days just at the resort we've come to love. We couldn't be happier about getting to work together on a third season."
