The last episodes of Top Boy will air this year, however as of Jan 2023, there remains no formal release date for them. The show’s final season was rumored to have been delayed due to creative disagreements, but Netflix clarified the situation in an exchange with Metro.
According to a Netflix spokesman, “Producers Cowboy Films, Easter Partisan, and Netflix temporarily suspended filming on the season finale of Tops Boys to allow for any further creative discussion.”
“Now that production has resumed, the show will premiere as scheduled in 2023.”
Top Boy has not yet received a season 5 formal renewal from Netflix. There is no set release date for the new season as of February 2023. This does not imply that the show has been terminated. The next season of the show has not yet been revealed or scheduled, therefore it may be on hiatus.

The fact that she simply never gives up is, in my opinion, what is most wonderful about her – for me, as an actress, to be able to represent a character like this. Even when she reaches her breaking point, as you mentioned, she just keeps going.
Dushanbe considered the idea of quitting everything in season four, but Walters says it’s not that simple. He mentioned the following in an interview with Digital Spy:
“I don’t believe that he really wants to leave the streets. In a perfect world, it would be amazing, but I believe he’s someone who has been so steeped in the that lifestyle, and has earned the sum of money that he has, and has maintained the control that he has. I mean, I played it with this in mind, that he’s saying it.
It’s now about that control, he continued. The tangible items are not the focus. You see, it’s in him to be in charge of his surroundings and to have power, and I believe that’s what keeps him going. It would therefore be difficult for him to abandon it.
After Jamie was released from prison, his group started working with the Beach house gang. After his companion Acts was killed with a knife, he tries to reset with their younger brother, Stefanie, but Dushanbe orders him to handle a botched drug deal that happened in Spain and Morocco.
After Doris’s murder, Jaq, Dushanbe’s new second-in-command, tries to save her pregnant older sister Lauryn who is being abused by weapons trader Curtis in Liverpool.
Sully is wary of Jamie and Dushanbe conducting business in a mature manner since he is grieving and suffering from PTSD as he copes with killing Dries and losing his friend and son-figure Jason.
While Shelley deals with her troubled history, which led to her being blackmailed for aiding in the burial of her ex-manslaughter boyfriend’s victim, she and other locals attempt to stop Dushanbe’s renovations for Summerhouse.

Top Boy Season 5 Cast:
Dushanbe (played by Ashley Walter) and Sully (played by Kane Robinson) both survived another season relatively uninjured. At least neither passed away. Therefore, we anticipate their return. We cannot guarantee that they will appear in the closing credits, though.
Jamie (Michael Ward), who was shot in the head by Sully, is very unlikely to have survived, thus it’s likely that he is no longer with us.
After getting shot by Jamie, Jamie’s close friend Kit (Kadeem Ramsay) will not be joining the ensemble for another season.
Since the second season of Top Boy, Arnell Jones, played by Malcolm Amulet, has been the subject of controversy. The character, who was a major player in the Channel 4 original, has not featured since Netflix renewed the series, and there has been no indication of what happened to Smith on-screen.
Ashley Walters, the show’s executive producer, was asked in a recent interview if viewers may expect a conclusion or a comeback in the season’s finale.
While “Malcolm was a fantastic addition” to the ensemble and “was one of the original members of the show,” Walters said to Radio Times that “no,” that actor ultimately “had separate stuff that he had to do with his life.”
