Twenty years have passed since the release of Blow, a film directed by Ted Demme in which Johnny Depp plays drug dealer George Jung. On May 5th the news of the death of the latter, also known as “Boston George”, arrived at the age of 78.

Jung’s death was reported on his social channels. As we can also see at the bottom of the news, a famous quote from Blow, written in white on a black background, which reads: “May you always have the wind behind you, may the sun shine in your face and may the wind of fate carry you up to dance with the stars. The dates of birth and death (1942-2021) are then indicated.

On Instagram, however, a photo of the drug trafficker was published with a cigarette between his lips and a lighter in his hand. “RIP George Jung. Died this morning in his hometown of Weymouth, Massachusetts. Boston George, the last outlaw.”

Between the 1970s and 1980s, Jung had become one of the most prominent cocaine smugglers in the United States, and had been the main ally of Pablo Escobar. After his arrest, which took place in 1994, and twenty years in prison, from 2014, as reported by Deadline, he was in probation, after being released for good behavior.
