Butch & Sundance Season 1 Storyline:

Butch Cassidy is the charming, astute, and chatty leader of the criminal Hole-in-the-Wall Gang in Wyoming in 1899. The dead-shot laconic “Sundance Kid” is his best friend.

The two find Harvey Logan as their new leader when they return to their refuge at Hole-in-the-Wall (Wyoming), where the rest of the gang has chosen him out of resentment for Cassidy’s protracted absences.

Logan difficulties Cassidy to a duel with a knife about who will head the group. Despite defeating him via cunning, Cassidy agrees with Logan’s plan to steal the Union Pacific Overland Flyer train during its eastward & westward trips because he believes the second heist will be more successful than the first and likely bring in more money.

The first heist goes well. To commemorate, Cassidy goes to a favorite brothel in a neighboring town. There, he amuses himself by watching as the town marshal makes vain efforts to gather a posse to find the gang, only to have a friendly bicycle salesman (who refers to it as “the future”) steal his address to the locals.

Sundance visits his girlfriend, instructor Etta Place, so they engage in sexual activity. The next morning, Cassidy joins them and takes Place for a spin on his brand-new bike (Raindrops Kept Fallin’ on My Head).

Cassidy overuses dynamite to blast open the safe during the second train heist, despite the fact that it is considerably bigger than the safe from the first operation. The luggage vehicle is destroyed by the explosion, and cash flies everywhere.

A second train comes with a six-man squad of law enforcement officers as the gang is rushing to collect the money. The crack team persistently follows Cassidy & Sundance, who make many unsuccessful attempts to flee.

They attempt to hide out at the brothel to ask the amiable Sheriff Bledsoe for amnesty, but he informs them that they have just one option left to them: to depart.

Cassidy and Sundance learn that the company includes famed Indian tracker “Lord Baltimore” and tenacious lawman Joe Lefors, identifiable by his white skimmer, as the posse continues to pursue them in spite of all efforts to evade them.

They ultimately manage to escape their pursuers by plunging into a river from a nearby cliff. They discover from Place that Union Pacific CEO E. H. Harriman has bribed the posse to follow them till they are both slain.

Cassidy persuades Sundance and Place to accompany him and the other two to Bolivia, where he believes to be a haven for thieves. Sundance is appalled by the living circumstances and holds the nation in contempt upon their arrival, while Cassidy maintains his optimism.

They learn that they don’t know enough Spanish to successfully steal a bank, so Place tries to tutor them in the language. They became successful bank robbers dubbed Los Bandidos Yanquis with her as an accomplice.

But as they see a guy sporting a white hat—the distinguishing feature of tenacious lawman Lefors—they lose confidence and worry that Harriman’s squad is still chasing them.

When Cassidy considers “going straight,” he and Sundance are hired as payroll guards at a mining firm, which is their first honest job. On their initial run, local bandits assault them, killing their leader Percy Garris in the process.

For the first time in his life, Cassidy shoots the bandits. Place suggests ranching or farming as alternative careers, but they come to the conclusion that the upright life isn’t for their. Place chooses to return to America because he believes that if they continue robbing people, they would be murdered.

When they get to a little village, Cassidy and Sundance have stolen a paycheck and the burro that was used to transport it. The local police are informed by a little child who saw the burro’s cattle branding, which results in a firefight with the criminals.

Sundance delivers cover fire as Cassidy makes a last-ditch effort to reach the burro for ammo. The two injured guys seek refuge inside a neighboring structure.

Australia should be the pair’s next stop, according to Cassidy. Unbeknownst to both of them of them, the neighborhood police have requested assistance from the Bolivian Army to deal with these two criminals.

The two burst into the building with their weapons drawn and into a shower of shots from the encircling soldiers who have taken up positions at every lookout point.

The movie finishes with a freeze-frame, the sounds of Bolivian army opening fire on the unfortunate outlaws, a sepia-toned image, and the titles.
