Caliphate Season 2 Storyline:
One of Husam’s coworkers, Ahmed, develops a crush on Pervin. One night he shows up at her place and overhears her chatting with Fatima. She stabs him and kills him after he rapes and is ready to murder her.
To dispose of his corpse, she takes it to the nearby well. Husam, sedated by sleeping pills, stumbles into the kitchen and witnesses the blood upon the floor, but Pervin quickly convinces him that he truly is seeing things. He can’t seem to get over it, and ends up thinking he murdered Ahmed until Pervin eventually sets him straight.
Fatima reaches out for assistance in order to extract Pervin, as a plan is made to evacuate her from Raqqa. Sulle and Kerima, meantime, have purchased airline tickets to Turkey, where they will be met by Ibbe or the lady who has been instructing them in Islam. Sulle’s younger sister Lisha jumps in the vehicle with them just before they leave for the airport.
Sulle faked attending to a basketball game to her parents. Suleiman, her atheist father, gets off work early to attend her game but is disappointed to find the stadium deserted.
He contacts Calle, who notifies the relevant German and Turkish authorities. They claim to have followed the girls all the way to Istanbul before realizing that someone replaced the passports and the girls were really in Ankara. They want to stop the transit truck at the Turkey–Syria border. Except for Lisha, whose has left for Syria, they succeed in saving everyone.
To rescue Lisha, Calle encourages Fatima to go to Pervin for aid. Fatima gets Pervin to turn around and go back for Lisha after she and her daughter had already reached their transfer van. In exchange, Fatima promised to go to Syria and save everyone there. Lisha becomes Husam’s second wife thanks to Pervin’s persuasiveness.
Jacob kills his mother with a knife in the kitchen before he leaves to carry off the assault. After following Jacob and Emil in her automobile, Fatima loses track of them as they transfer vehicles at their mother’s home.
Minutes after Fatima discovers the three terror targets, the police swoop in on her and arrest her before she can reveal the news. She says she’ll help Husam, Pervin, and Lisha escape if you give her the details.
The Security Service, that had been keeping quiet about the plots, managed to foil all three terrorist attempts. They didn’t want to risk Fatima finding out the truth, so they kept her in the dark.
She gets freed from prison on the condition that she remains silent. Ibbe detonates a bomb inside a garage and just avoids detection by dressing as a lady.
To save Pervin, Lisha, and Husam, Fatima journeys to Syria. Husam’s coworker Omar arrives 15 minutes before she does to escort Husam to the suicide bombing target.
Husam attempts to gain a period of time but Lisha, who is much more politicized than her sister and refuses to go back to Sweden, confesses their escape plot to Omar.
As Omar was going to murder Husam, Fatima arrived and ended his life after he shot Pervin in the back. They hastily make their way to the vehicle, leaving behind a raving Lisha.
They are able to leave Raqqa, but Pervin passes away shortly after crossing the border. Fatima, inconsolable, offers to assist Husam, also inconsolable, carry their daughter as they return to Sweden.
The finale of the first season really was a cliffhanger. Pervin, Hussam, and Latifa’s escape from Raqqa with the assistance of Fatima is shown at the season’s finale.
In an earlier scene at their home, though, we witness Lisha informing the ISIS member they are leaving for Sweden, prompting the latter to shoot Pervin in the back. Fatima has attempted to persuade Lisha to return with her to Sweden, but Lisha is unconvinced.
Pervin has been wounded in the back and even if they all get it out of Raqqa alive, he will not survive. This leaves Hussam inconsolable.
Ibra ensnares Kerima in Sweden and has her detonate an explosive device during a show. Ibra claims that he & Sulle will join her in committing suicide by exploding.
Kerima wears the bomb vest and telephones Sulle, but he is never in the loop and neither will Ibra blow himself up. Kerima will be alone by herself.
The fact that Caliphate was based on a true tale makes the film more impactful. A young Canadian woman moves to Syria and joins the Islamic State, eventually becoming an executioner for the organization before fleeing.
This series also emphasized the challenging lives of the five women who were consistently embroiled in trying situations. Since it is still unknown whether there will be a season 2, fans can only hold out hope. If there were a second season of Caliphate, it may focus on the revolutionary movement.
