Along with Alex (Jason Matsoukis), Bridgette (Kimiko Ginn), and Josh’s closest buddy Josh all reside in a duplex in East Los Angeles. Although Alex and Bridgette are no longer together, they still share a bed. A mattress that was concealed in a closet. The adults, who are all in in their twenties and are working hard to develop into mature individuals.

In the first scene, Emily and Josh visit the L.A. Fabric District in search of supplies for Candace’s class quilt. Josh enjoys haggling, whereas Emily prefers to purchase hat-wearing birds & zoot outfits.

They also come upon a treasure mine of British orphans dressed in 19th-century fashion and ready for adoption. They assist in making the quilt, however the next day they transform into hideous tiny grownups. There is not much more for Josh and Emily to do but finish their quilt.

In the second section, Emily leaves their chaotic flat by visiting local open homes. When she goes to an open home, she discovers a dad who has gotten away with his triplets & a child star who has gotten away from fame.

Instead of being in their nearby neighborhood, the home is now a stage in the midst of the nothingness. Josh arrives (riding the six-person family bicycle he purchased) to save Emily, but he too becomes stuck.
