Demonic, first official look at the new horror directed by Neill Blomkamp

Shot entirely during the Pandemia in Coronavirus, after the loosening of the restrictions of the first lockdowns around the world, the intriguing Demonic written and directed by Neill Blomkamp finally shows itself in the first official images and in a fascinating behind-the-scenes video shot in 8mm.

The film will be released in US theaters on August 20, 2021, this assuming that there are no further postponements in distribution, but given the improving situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic and the gradual reopening of theaters in the United States, including key territories such as Los Angeles and New York, the exit should now be guaranteed.

The film also has an official synopsis: uA young woman unleashes terrifying demons when the supernatural forces behind a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are mercilessly revealed.

In the main cast we will find Carly Pope (Elysium), Chris William Martin (Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem) e Michael Rogers (The Blacklist). Deadline had long ago explained that Neill Blomkamp had wanted to make this film for a long time. The screenplay has always been signed by the author and the cast includes only Canadian actors and a strong sci-fi VFX component, in line with the director’s cinematic poetics.

Blomkamp is working on District 10, the sequel to the cult film District 9 that made it known to the general public: Blomkamp said that the screenplay for the project was written by him, Terri Tatchell and Sharlto Copley. Finally, the director has another film in the pipeline, Inferno with Taylor Kitsch, already ready before the arrival of the coronavirus but still unreleased due to the numerous delays in distribution.
