Dragon Ball Super Chapter 99 Storyline:
As usual, Dragon Ball Super Section 98 starts with the ongoing fight between Gotenks and Cell Max, which is now being shown to be taking place on earth. Gotenks has no chance and has to get close enough to touch Cell Max.
What quickly happened was that not only did Cell Max have to see Gotenks get knocked up in the air, but Android 18 also had to see that for herself as she continued to beat Gotenks back down on the round. People thought that Android 18 would be able to crack Cell Max’s Cranium with Gotenks.
This is after Android 18 was shown to hit Gotenks again, and Gotenks was then seen to crash into Cell Max. From there, we see something similar to the movie where Gotenks was able to crack Cell Max’s cranium, and this not only serves as a palace to get everyone’s attention, but also looks a lot like the movie where Gotenks rubbed that in Cell Max’s faces.
Cell Max actually fires a mouth blast that almost eats Gotenks’ hole, which went against Android 18’s plan because they thought Gotenks would make a difference until Gotenks was shown running away while Cell Max fired more mouth blasts.
Later, we observe that Gohan said they weren’t doing enough damage and that he needed them to all fire their ranged strikes at Cell Max at the same time from a safe distance, it didn’t matter where they were.
He also said that all he needs is for him to be pinned down for as lengthy as possible—longer than the last time—so he can make his big move. When he does, ensure you are far away.
Cell Max was much stronger than Gotenks, and the fight on Earth was still going strong in chapter 98. Gotenks was desperate for even one jab on his monster opponent, but he had to face the truth.
The easy way Cell Max threw him into the air sent Gotenks gasping for air. Android 18 waited in anticipation, hoping that Gotenks would be able to break into Cell Max’s head, which seemed impossible to get into.

But Cell Max should not be taken lightly. He attacked back by sending out a powerful mouth blast that almost engulfed Gotenks. Android 18’s plan to use Gotenks as a weapon put him in danger because Gotenks desperately ran away, just barely escaping the deadly attack.
In the Superhero Saga, the major incident that ties everything together is their battle against Cell Max. These fights happen between Beast Gohan as well as Cell Max. After a while has passed, Beast Gohan and Orange Piccolo join the fight.
Beast Gohan is not shown or talked about at all in the most recent sketch. They might also be hidden on purpose so that that they can be revealed in the last chapter.
