Marcin Kania finds himself in a state of complete amnesia after a night of heavy drinking. Past events swiftly resurface, revealing that his son Piotrek was terrified and confessed to a terrible crime.
Marcin is at his son’s apartment, covered in blood, but other than that, nothing is known. The newest Polish thriller on Netflix, Fragment, welcomes you.
There have been many media adaptations of this simplistic amnesiac idea, and Feedback shamelessly recycles it. In this five-part documentary, we follow Marcin as he sets out to uncover the truth.
On this adventure, he delves into Piotr and Marcin’s troubled histories while also seeing the unsavory side of Warsaw. This culminates in a surprising finale in the last episode of the narrative.
Marcin, nevertheless, is the central figure in this puzzle; he has a hard time remembering the vague details of that last night with Piotr. However, as the episodes unfold, the tale primarily explores the concept of alcoholism and the devastation it can wreak on a person’s life, including those closest to them.
We learn right away in the pilot that Marcin is a chronic alcoholic. He goes to group therapy and acts like any good recovering alcoholic would, but he lies compulsively and lives bottle to bottle. He also has a hard time letting go of his band days.
So, the strength and weakness of feedback are intertwined. Because Marcin consistently puts himself in harm’s way, it’s hard to cheer for him here.
It becomes more difficult to sympathize with his situation as we get to know him better; he is not an endearing guy. Episodes three and four in particular may suffer from this, giving the impression that nothing is moving forward at a reasonable pace. Those of you who stuck with it to the end got a respectable payoff at the end.
It is, nevertheless, quite clear. Just for the satisfying conclusion, Feedback is a solid thriller. One can’t help but think that with a little more editing, this may have been perfect.
This still seems too long, even after five episodes. Some of it could be Marcin’s doing, but Arkadiusz Jakubik deserves the credit for giving the character the weight and complexity necessary to make you think this is an alcoholic who is pulled across the screen. It’s not flawless, but it’s still a respectable watch.

At a fancy restaurant, Marcin Kania had supper with his son Piotr. Marcin arrives to Piotr’s flat the next day completely disoriented and hazy on the events leading up to their breakup.
After seeing blood on the washing machine sheets, he learns that someone banged him up. No trace of Piotr has been found. The family and Marcin feel let down because they believe the police are not dedicating enough time and energy to the issue, despite the fact that it is being reported as a missing persons case. Marcin is so dissatisfied that he decides to conduct his own inquiry; the results alter his perception of his kid and of himself.
