High Desert Season 2 Review:
Ben Stiller is doing a terrific job as executive director, even though I can’t stand to see him on screen! Rupert Friend, who is very gifted, is spectacular as always. His acting is so diverse, as seen by Lullaby for Pi & Hitman: Agent 47, that it is hard to tell him apart from one character to the next.
He has a perfect American accent and is the right amount of vacuous, hair-flipping, etc. Strangely lighthearted for such a serious actor, I’ve been watching for the first fifteen seconds, but I still have no idea what’s going on. Is this a comedy or a drama? I am clueless.
I have yet to discover the identities of the connections between these personalities. The language may be improved. The conversation is childish.
It looks like the filmmaker was intoxicated while this was being filmed. Without any context or setting, the characters are thrust into difficult circumstances.
