While developing in a pot, Baby Groot receives care from robots. The robots swap out Groot for a bonsai when his pot develops a crack. When Groot becomes envious of a plant, he attacks it, knocking both of them out of their respective pots. This allows Groot to take his first steps.
Baby Groot discovers some small blue Grunds hiding beneath a rock and begins to play with them, prompting the Grunds to respond by attacking.
The Grunds get their sustenance from a leaf farted by a scared Groot. Groot goes to a neighboring bush to get more food for the Grunds, but he steps on them.
In the center of the night, Baby Groot discovers a shattered vial in the Elector’s Quadrant and follows the trail of bubble-colored liquid all over the ship.
It turns out that Iwua, a shapeshifting extraterrestrial, is acting as him here. The alien teaches Iwua some dancing moves as they dance together until Groot finally throws him out of the airlock.
Little Groot digs himself a mud bath. Due to the mud, leaves begin to sprout out of him, and he begins to groom them in various fashions, much to the chagrin of a passing Gangalorian squirrel bird.
Groot consumes all of the pool’s muck and is unable to continue growing leaves thereafter. Groot, while the squirrel bird mocks him, cuts some of its hairs to use as a scarf.
Baby Groot collects things from around the ship and sets off an explosion to make glitter in order to attract the Guardians of the Galaxy.
After the blast, Rocket finds Groot trying to repair the hole. After saving Rocket from being ripped out of the spacecraft, Groot hands him the artwork.
