Following separate counseling sessions with Paul, Jake and Amy choose to divorce and divide custody of their kid. Paul believes Gina is the therapist he needs in his life and keeps seeing her.

In the following season, Paul gets divorced and relocates to Brooklyn, where Alex Sr., Alex’s father, serves Paul with a malpractice lawsuit. Paul is accused of failing to stop Alex’s death, which was declared an accident after Alex, among other things, voluntarily stopped receiving treatment.

Paul is accused of being careless and unprofessional for failing to notify the military that Alex was unsuitable for service because of his trauma.
