Candy is something that everyone wants. Love and Death, a made-up version of the Candy Montgomery story on HBO Max, will come out soon now since Jessica Biel’s Hulu show brought the famous 1980s case back to light.

Candy was one of the most talked-about shows of 2022. It hooked true crime fans right away, and of course, it left people with a lot of questions, like why Candy Montgomery killed Betty. What is Candy Montgomery doing now? What did really happen so many years ago?

She’s everything right: she does have kids and a family, yet she has a huge hole in her mind that she doesn’t know how to fill, and she tends to make a very bad choice.”

Since her character seemed to die in Doctor Strange inside the Multiverse of Madness, no one knows if or when Olsen would then return to the MCU. The Scarlet Witch starlet will have something to do during her break from Marvel with the upcoming miniseries.

David E. Kelley, who made popular dramas such As the Undoing and Big Little Lies, is back with another drama on HBO Max. Love and Death, a new miniseries, will have a consistent idea to a shows mentioned above. Love and Death is inspired by the real-life story of Candy Montgomery, who killed her friend and neighbour Betty Gore in the early 1980s.

Elizabeth Olsen, who is best known for playing Wanda in the MCU and on the Disney show WandaVision, will be the main character in this new show. After the well-reviewed Marvel series or Doctor Strange inside the Multiverse of Madness, her next TV project will be Love and Death. The Hollywood Reporter said that Lesli Linka Glatter or Nicole Kidman will work with Lionsgate Television to make the show.

Love and Death continues to be made, and the people who are making it are trying to finish it on time. Now, the show is set to start sometime in 2023. Elizabeth Olsen will be the main character in this project. Sarah Aubrey, the Head of Original Content for HBO Max, told Deadline that she feels “incredibly lucky to have Elizabeth just at centre of with us story to bring out all of the layers of Candy which make this story so memorable.”

Also, Kevin Beggs, the head of Lionsgate Television Group, said that “Elizabeth Olsen is the best person we can think of to play the lead role of Candy. Her talent, charm, and energy can make people fall in love with her like no one else.” In addition to Olsen, the series will feature Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery, Jesse Plemons as Allan Gore, Lily Rabe as Betty Gore, and several others.

Love and Death Plot

The miniseries will take place in the 1980s and show the beautiful and peaceful life of a Wylie, Texas, couple who go to church together. But everything changes for them after Candy Montgomery kills her buddy Betty Gore by hitting her with an axe used to split wood.

Inside the late 1970s, Candy’s husband and Betty’s husband have been having an affair that neither of their wives knew about. Gore’s husband was in town on the day she was killed. He asked the neighbours to just go check on her. When they broke into her house, they found her body, which had been stabbed 41 times. Candy is the most likely person to have killed Betty as she was last person to see her alive, according to her statement.

When the murder trial keeps going, Candy admits that she was the one who killed Betty. But she said that Betty found out about affair she had with her husband, which made Betty very angry and cause her to attack her. So, according to what Candy said, she killed Betty out of self-defense and is not responsible of her crime.

We don’t know the type of story this new show is going to tell. Will it tell the whole story of the murder, along with the affair, or will it focus on a key part of the murder or the trial? Even though this rape case has been talked about for years because of its interesting story, the outcome of the trial made many people doubt Candy’s story.

Soapboxie, for example, pointed out that Candy’s claim of self-defense doesn’t make sense, since Betty didn’t seem to know about the affair between Candy but also her husband in the days before she was killed. This was mostly thought to be true because Candy wrote to her parents right before she died and called Candy a “good friend.”
