Onimusha Season 1 Storyline:
The feudal lord Nobunaga Oda is slain in the opening fight of Onimusha: Warlords, a game set predominantly in Japan during the Sengoku era.
Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, one of the most famous warriors, gets a letter from his relative Princess Yuki, who is worried about the disappearance of servants from her palace.
While attempting to save Yuki, Samanosuke teams up with the Kunoichi Kaede and learns that the demons responsible are called Genma. In order to vanquish the Genma, the Oni clan bestows supernatural abilities onto Samanosuke.
Throughout his battles, Samanosuke learns that the Genma have revived Nobunaga to serve their goals and are planning to sacrifice Yuki & an orphan called Yumemaru in order to bestow further abilities on Nobunaga.
With the help of Yumemaru, Samanosuke defeats the Genma Lord, the deity of Light Fortinbras, and saves Yuki and Yumemaru. After that, Samanosuke’s party splits up.
To unite Japan, Nobunaga recruits the Genma to fight with his armies in the sequel, Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, leading to the destruction of Yagyu village and its clan of exterminators.
Jubei Yagyu, the last survivor of his clan, embarks on a mission of vengeance against Nobunaga’s warriors after discovering that he inherited Oni abilities from his mother.
He employs these powers, coupled with the Oni’s five orbs, in his fight against the Shogun’s forces. On his way to assassinating Nobunaga, Jubei finds a number of like-minded companions.
Jubei sneaks inside Gifu Castle and faces off against Nobunaga on his own. Despite Jubei’s best efforts, Nobunaga’s spirit survives the killing and returns to his body at a later time.
