Our Beloved Summer has not been picked up for a second season by SBS as of this writing. It would be interesting to see whether they renew this for a second season in light of the consistently solid numbers.
The ratings started off well at 3.2% throughout the country and have been progressively rising, peaking at 5.2% for episode 12. That’s really impressive for a drama airing so early in the week.

Our Beloved Summer Season 2 Storyline
We have no idea what will occur in the next season. The first season concluded on a high note, and the pair even made their marriage official at the season finale. What more satisfying conclusion could one want for? But if the director decides to change the plot, season two would likely center on the couple’s day-to-day struggles as a married couple. In any case, before making any hasty conclusions, let’s patiently await for an official update.
The first season focuses mostly on Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo healing their relationship after some rocky times. Over time, they develop a strong bond. In the series finale, Choi Ung invites Yeon-Soo to go with him abroad for school, but she declines. Even though he had to leave her behind, he eventually comes back to her a few years later.
Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo are married in the last minutes of the show and go on to create a second documentary on their married life. The couple’s devotion to one another motivates them to make a new documentary. So, season two should show us what comes next in their lives. One documentary may begin with their wedding day and another could chronicle their lives in their middle or latter years together.
