Ratched Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Everything You Need to Know

The second season of Ratched will not be on Netflix until June 2022. It seems like a very long time since we last saw Sarah Paulson, who plays American Horror Story’s Nurse Mildred Ratched, in the Netflix thriller One Flew So over Cuckoo’s Nest, which is based on Ken Kasey’s 1962 novel of the same name.

The first episode of the show came out on Netflix in September 2020. It was a big hit with viewers and was nominated for focus on four Emmys. Netflix says that Ratched was the “most-watched series debut of 2020” because 48 million households around the world watched it in the first 28 days after it came out.

So it shouldn’t have been a surprise when, soon after the show’s premiere, the streaming service said it had by now placed a second season. But even though it’s been almost two years, we’re still waiting for the new episodes we were promised.

When it did come to spin-off series as well as origin stories, the film and TV industries are notoriously risk-averse. However, American Horror Story stars Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson were in charge of the Netflix series prequel to the drama film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and it was a huge hit.

The TV show goes into the past of the movie’s villain, the cruel Nurse Mildred Ratched, as well as shows how she became the figure that people in the classic horror flick loved to hate. The first season of the show, which started in September 2020, was a huge hit.

Ratched got mixed reactions from critics, who gave it an average rating of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it was awarded four Primetime Emmys, which shows that viewers loved it.

Ratched Season 2 Release Date

We have both good and bad news to share. You don’t have to worry whether or not there will be a second season of Ratched. It was originally planned to run for two seasons. The sad fact is that it’s hard to know for sure when Ratched will come out.

At the time of this writing, manufacturing on the second season of Ratched hasn’t even started yet. This is because of things like the cast’s busy schedules, Covid-19, and Ryan Murphy’s many other projects.

But if anything changes, we’ll be sure to let you know, so keep an eye on this article often for updates.

Ratched Season 2 Cast

Nurse Ratched as well as Gwendolyn spent the end of season 1 hiding out in Mexico, but we don’t think they’ll be able to stay away from St. Lucia for long. We think that Sarah Paulson, Cynthia Nixon, and Finn Wittrock will all be back for season 2 of Ratched. Finn Wittrock, who plays Edmund Tolleson, seems determined to get back at Sarah Paulson and Cynthia Nixon.

A lot of characters from season 1 died too soon, but those who have survived thus far will probably come back as well. However, the two-year time jump at the season’s end 1 makes it possible that some characters may have died off-screen.

At least for now, we can probably assume that some of the following characters and actors will be back: Jon Jon Briones (Dr. Richard Hanover), Charlie Carver (nurse Huck Finnigan), Sharon Stone (Lenore Osgood), Alice Englert (Dolly), Corey Stoll (Charles Wainwright), and Jermaine Williams (Harold).

Ratched Season 2 Trailer

Ratched Season 2 Plot

The series’ final stop is intended to set the stage with One Flew So over Cuckoo’s Nest by showing how Nurse Ratched would become the evil, perverted megalomaniac humans meet inside the movie.

But we already know that this happy ending won’t last. Not only is Edmund, Ratched’s brother, on the run as well as intends to kill a woman, but because this is a spinoff series, we by now know how the story of Ratched is going to end.

This means that, no matter what happens, season 2 will have to show what makes Ratched lose the last of her humanity, and we think that Edmund, his girlfriend Louise, and Charlotte, who’s had dissociative identity disorder have something to do with it.

“What you’re probably going to witness is a Mildred who has become even harder, so because aspect that kept her soft was indeed part of her that loved, protected, and wanted forgiveness for her brother,” she said. “Now that that’s gone, I don’t know who she’ll become. I’m pretty sure she’s getting further and further from her heart and humanity.”

But we know very well that this happy ending won’t last. Not only is Edmund, Ratched’s brother, trying to avoid being caught and plotting to kill her, but as it’s a prequel set, we by now know how the story of Ratched will end.

The ultimate goal of the series is to set the scene with One Flew So over Cuckoo’s Nest by showing how Nurse Ratched became the depraved, depraved megalomaniac we encounter in the movie.

In the illumination of all this, season 2 will need to show what happened to make Ratched lose the last of her humanity. We think that Edmund, his girlfriend Louise, and Charlotte, who has multiple personality disorder, will all have something to do with Ratched’s death.

In an interview with Wrap in September 2020, Paulson seems to imply that her character’s fight with Helen’s brother and her discovery of his violent tendencies are the main story and cost her soul.
