The story revolves on a little town in the northeastern United States called Rutherford Falls, which happens to be on the edge of a Native American reservation.

At the same time, Reagan approaches the casino’s boss Terry with a request: she wants a larger share of the revenues to go toward growing the Minishonka cultural center, which she oversees.
He turns her down, but then reveals that he’s been working on a clandestine project called “Running Lightning” and hopes she can join in three to five years.
Upon seeing Nathan’s enraged address to the community, Terry promptly informs his board that Running Lightning must be launched without delay.
Season one of “Rutherford Falls” concluded on an unexpected note. While Rutherford did his best to save the family monument during the first season, he has no connection to the man who built Rutherford Falls.
