Spain registered this Sunday the lowest daily death toll from coronavirus for two months and below a hundred fatalities, after the death of 87 patients in the last 24 hours, as reported by health sources.

It is the lowest number of deaths in a day since March 12, when 84 deaths were registered, always according to the official count.

Meanwhile, the daily report showed an advance of 421 infections, for a total of 277,719 cases. However, on Sundays and Mondays they tend to show low figures due to a delay in the unification of reports, although the government stressed that this effect is less for the death count.

"Transmission is very low now and we are on a very good track. This has been due to confinement. Right now most of the infections are between toilets

”Explained Fernando Simón, government spokesman for the pandemic.

The Spanish government will ask Congress next week for a new extension of the state of alarm decreed by the coronavirus on March 14, but this time it will propose that it be one month, and not fifteen days as has been customary since the start of the pandemic. .

The Executive chaired by the socialist Pedro Sánchez has been negotiating for days with all the political groups with parliamentary representation the approval of this extension, which would be the fifth and the last before returning to economic and social normality, as explained by the Prime Minister himself Spanish this Saturday in a television appearance.
