The Ancient Magus Bride Season 3 Storyline:

A Japanese orphan named Chise, who had intended to sell herself into slavery since she was socially outcast, is won over by magician Elias, who bids a million pounds at an auction.

They go to the English countryside to Elias’s home, where he makes the official announcement that she is going to be his apprentice. He has her take a bath, and while she’s in there, fairies show up to tell her she’s a Sleigh Beggy, a kind of magician that unknowingly draws magical beings who may aid her when she needs them but she finds that aiding them might just as easily hurt her.

To get even with Elias, the fairies try to abduct Chise that night as she walks through the woods. In response to Chise’s insistence on remaining with Elias, he drives the fairies away, admits he was aware of their plot, and takes advantage of the situation to demonstrate to Chise what a magical being considers “help.” After meeting Chise, Elias expresses his desire for her to marry him.

Chise wakes up after two days of sleep after her encounter with the fairies. Chise meets Angelica Burley, the proprietor of the store, a magus craft worker who makes magical equipment, when Elias brings her shopping at a business that looks like a bookshop.

She scolds him furiously upon hearing regarding the adoption and proposal. While magic is more akin to a miracle that can alter reality with the aid of magical beings, Angelica instructs Chise in alchemy.

The number of crystal flowers at Angelica’s studio increases to hundreds as Chise recalls a memory of her mother working in the field after she produces one. But Elias puts a halt to their spread.

A magical knife, a cloak, and other magical objects are sold to Chise by Angelica. On their way back, they see Simon Cullum, who approaches Elias, pleading for a favor in exchange for the church’s silence over his sins.

Simon Cullum assigns Elias the mission of visiting Iceland to study the local dragon population. Upon their arrival, a dragon and Lindel, who tends to it, abduct Chise.

Uncle Nevin, a wise dragon, is dying and transforming his body onto a tree as Chise awakens at the nesting site. He goes on to say that dragons don’t fear death and may spend their lives to the fullest without feeling remorse.

If Chise had taken her own life, Elias would never have discovered her; yet, Nevin is relieved that she didn’t. As he passes away, Nevin tells her about his time in the air.

Chise may become one of the few remaining magicians due to the increasing human population, which Elias laments. Upon passing away, Nevin metamorphoses into a white-flower-adorned tree.

He expresses his gratitude to Chise for brightening his last moments by offering her a few of his branches as a wand. Something about how to live a happy life has been taught to Chise. After using all her power and telling Nevin her memories, Chise falls just before she leaves.

Season 3 of The Ancient Magus’ Bride will pick up where the manga adaptation left off, in volume 16. Chise and Elias’ friendship, along with their relationships with other characters including Silky, Alice, Renfrew, Stella, & Joseph, will continue to evolve in the next episodes.

We shall delve further into the mysteries and past of the magi realm, uncovering tales like Elias’s birth, Chise’s sleigh beggary abilities, and the College of Magic’s function.

In addition, we will see Chise and Elias encounter new friends and foes including Ashen Eye, Cartophiles, Lindel, Marielle, & Philomela, leading to exciting new experiences and challenges.
